Abstract:

This collection contains the administrative papers of the women's art gallery, Center/Gallery. The folders contain the newsletters, calendars, meeting minutes, bylaws, budgets, and grant seeking applications of the organization. A significant portion of the collection contains newspaper clippings, flyers, and advertisements for the various exhibits, workshops, and sales held there. A limited amount of photographs are available for specific events.

Abstract:

The New Jersey Regional Zine Collection is composed of various zines, buttons, and stickers made by New Jerseyans and individuals in the tristate area from 2011-present. The collection attempts to document the resurgence and content of alternative media in Do-It-Yourself communities, minority communities, artistic communities, and feminist communities. The collection continues to grow through donations and purchases.

Abstract:

The collection is composed of 23 sketchbooks from feminist artist and educator, Nancy Azara's class "Consciousness-Raising, Visual Diaries, Art-Making Workshop." The students would draw and respond in their sketchbooks to women who were sharing their experiences as women and as women artists. Through this exercise, students strove to find an authentic artistic style.

Abstract:

Suzanne Benton is an artist, performer, sculptor, and feminist. Benton was an early member of the National Organization for Women (NOW) where she led the Women in Art Task Force, a member of both the Women's Caucus for Art, Connecticut Chapter and the National Association of Women Artists, and creator of Positive Power, a series of forums that garnered a large audience exposing the public to women artists of Connecticut. Abstract: The Women's Studio Center Records contains documents produced by the Women's Studio Center, a non-profit art studio and writing room that provided individual studio space for visual artists and also organized workshops, classes, exhibitions and other events supporting and promoting visual arts and creative writing.
